DATEN Colts hockey side suffered a 3-1 defeat against Winnington Park in a match where the score did not reflect the game.

A determined Daten side had most of the possession in the first half with a strong midfield. Winnington scored from a controvesial short corner mid-way through the first half and the Daten heads dropped allowing Winnington to score again before half time.

Daten came out strong in the second half scoring early with textbook play from Nikki Buckney and Becki Hateley to put Stacey Corless through to score. The rest of the game was evenly matched and despite sterling performances from Corinne Hodge and Rosie Lidster in defence, Winnington were able to put the ball in the back of the net on the day. Sacha Hateley was player of the match.

Daten Ladies returned to league fixtures with another convincing win over

Macclesfield.

Controlling the game throughout, and displaying some fantastic passing moves, Daten's first goal came via Jo North with a reverse stick touch on a cross from player of the match, Debbie Holland.

Free hit

With continued pressure, Daten soon secured a free hit outside the area which was swiftly taken by centre half Helen Moffat. Sacha Hately, with back to goal, stretched out her stick and deflected the ball into the roof of the net, to deliver a stunning goal.

Macclesfield struggled to make any headway, with Daten keeper Jayne Jackson, touching the ball only twice during the match, such was the performance and organisation of Daten's defence.

The second half provided more of the same, with some great attacking play from the forward line and midfield. Fiona Turnbull saw the ball agonisingly zip past the end of her stick on the far post and Hately was beaten by the Macclesfield keeper after a superb solo run. Eventually, Nordovics struck a crisp shot from a tight angle, following a perfect pass from Watts, to net her second and Daten's third.
