A ROAD hump which broke-up under the strain of traffic calming has been removed by contractors.
On Tuesday morning segments of one of the rounded humps dotted three abreast along Holden Road in Leigh began to break-up creating danger for road users.
Contractors arrived on Tuesday morning and removed all of the faulty hump, another one alongside it and part of a third in the series, leaving the remaining portion which was still obscured by a parked car as went to press on Wednesday lunchtime.
A Wigan Council spokesman said: "Workmen were unable to remove the rest of the bump because of a parked vehicle. As soon as the car is moved they will complete the job. Engineers are looking into the possibility of replacing humps with a design using a more durable material."
