ANDREW Haggerty Hollern armed himself with three kitchen knives after being attacked by a group of youths.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Hollern brandished the knives in front of two teenage boys, who took refuge in a takeaway and called the police.
Hollern, 25, of Stonyhurst Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possessing three knives in public and using threatening behaviour.
He was remanded on bail until February 26 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports. The magistrates said that all options, including custody, would be open to the sentencing bench.
Kevin Preston, defending, said Hollern and another man had been attacked by a group of youths and Hollern had received significant injuries. The two men had to walk back through the Anderton Street area and had armed themselves for the return journey.
