THE closure of streets in Blackburn seemed to start in the 1960s with King William Street where it joined Darwen Street. Since then numerous streets have been carved up, leaving one-way access not in the interest of the motorists who cannot fund convenient parking in the town centre.
Nothing has ever been explained why these silly schemes were ever implemented in the first place. The Councillors, past and present, are now reaping the reward for the damage inflicted on this town -- chaos by their handling.
