A WOULD-BE robber fled red-faced after being given a slap by his victim.
Police said the thug pushed a 31-year-old man into a side street off Bealey Drive in Bury and ordered him to hand over cash.
However, the man lashed out and slapped the robber across the face forcing him to leave empty-handed.
The attempted street robbery happened in broad daylight at 1.10pm on Saturday (Feb 1).
Detectives are now seeking witnesses to help identify and catch the offender. He is said to be white, aged in his late 20s, slim and wearing a cream-hooded top, navy blue jogging bottoms with white stripes down the leg, and a baseball cap.
