AFTER 40 years of looking after other people, Sadie Leach is going to devote some time to herself.
Mrs Leach (64) retired as the proprietor of Primrose Cottage care home for the elderly last week.
She opened the home on Hudcar Lane, Bury, in 1984. Before that she was employed by Bury Council as a matron at Red Bank House in Radcliffe and then at Killelea House in Brandlesholme.
"I'd also worked as a carer in Rochdale and in Glasgow, so I've been in the caring profession for 40 years altogether," said Mrs Leach, of Haig Road, Bury.
On her final day last Thursday (Jan 31) she had a party where she was presented with flowers and crystal ornaments by colleagues and friends.
"It's been a very rewarding job and I've enjoyed looking after people with tender, loving care. Primrose Cottage wouldn't have been what it was without my wonderful staff and I intend to visit them," said Mrs Leach, who is also looking forward to devoting more time to herself and her garden.
