KUNG Hei Fat Choy! That's Happy New Year in Chinese as pupils at Chapelfield County Primary School found out.
Year 2 pupils at the Clough Street school spent Thursday (Jan 30) learning all about Oriental customs and traditions for the new year. They made masks of the 12 animals of the Chinese year, as well as coolie hats and Chinese lanterns. They also heard about Chinese beliefs and legends and watched the film, Mulan. But the real treat of the day came when it was time to eat.
Although it is the Year of the Ram, mutton was not on the menu. Instead, Radcliffe Asda provided a huge Chinese banquet which was eagerly devoured by the youngsters.
