BURY'S Garsdale Hotel is toasting success. The Woodhill Road pub, run by David and Gill Heyes, has scooped a top industry award, with possibly two more to follow.
The Garsdale has emerged as the national winner of the coveted Morning Advertiser industry award for business development pub of the year.
Now, with two other awards yet to be decided, David and Gill could be on a remarkable hat-trick.
The Morning Advertiser triumph is in tribute to the couple's £500,000 refurbishment programme which they launched after taking over the establishment in 2002. Now, the gold plaque presented to David and Gill takes pride of place in their popular Brandlesholme hotel.
Commenting on the award, David said: "It was absolutely fantastic to win. From a team point of view, we've all worked very hard. It's nice to be recognised as a great team in Bury."
The Garsdale has already been chosen as the regional winners of the British Institute of Inkeeping's Licensee of the Year award. The national winner will be announced in London in March.
And the Garsdale is also in the finals of the Publican Awards, the overall winner of which will also be announced next month.
