NEXT Wednesday Gareth Taylor will hope to add to his collection of international caps when Wales take on Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Millennium Stadium.
And there would be no better way to give Wales boss Mark Hughes a reminder of what he can do than to impress against the Bosnian captain at Coventry tomorrow.
Mo Konjic will be leading his country next week and Taylor confessed: "I have played against him a couple of times and I knew he was an international but until I saw it on text this week I did not know I might be playing him twice in five days.
"Obviously I would love to be involved for Wales on Wednesday and perhaps Sparky will be asking me about him when we get together.
"I have got a good scoring record against Coventry for Burnley, a goal in each of three games, and it would be great to make it four in four.
"He is a big lad but I remember that I have had a bit of joy against him in the air in the past and hopefully I can do so again."
Taylor is aware that winning his personal battle with Konjic will be important in the bigger picture of ensuring the Clarets get back to winning ways after last week's debacle against Reading.
"It is a huge game for us because we had been on a decent run of seven or eight games unbeaten but had struggled to get moving up the league," he said.
"If anything we seem to have been dragged down a bit and we need to get it going again. We know if we can beat Coventry again we will be two points behind them and with a game in hand - and they are still being talked about in terms of the play-offs.
"We have got a good record against the clubs that have recently come down from the Premiership but our problem has been beating teams we might be expected to beat.
"Perhaps it is because we respond well to big games but last year we did do well against the likes of Crewe, Stockport and Barnsley who all went down."
Taylor confessed that there has been a lot of discussion about what went wrong last weekend but said: "It won't be fully out of our system until we go to Coventry, put on a good performance and get a result.
"Our consistency has been disappointing and the gaffer has identified a lot of things he wants to put right. But when it comes down to matches it is up to the players to do the business, the coaches have done all they can.
"We have enough experienced players in the team not to let things like last week happen.."
