PROVING they have skill and cool delivery in ampfuls were headliners Pretend Girlfriend.
Performing all their own material they gave an hour's set packed with stories of everyday life and the uneasy politics of domesticity mixing ironic humour with anger and frustration "Limbo".
The group's main songsmith Simmy has an eye for reflecting life as he experiences it and it went down well with the audience.
Pretend Girlfriend are looking at an Autumn release date for their first 10 track album and next play at the Winnington Wreck in Northwich on February 21.
The challenge now is to take their belief in themselves as "the best unsigned band in this country" and rattle the bars on the music industry's gates and not those in the local pubs.
Support came from Blackburn band Last Living Enemy who showed that they have encouraging signs of future potential if they can master their direction as effortlessly as the cover versions they performed.
