Weekly round-up of all things Claret
Far from fine!
WHEN you are in the financial strife that the Clarets are, the last thing that you need is the threat of a fine.
For that reason the club is entitled to demand: "Who threw all the pies?" during last weekend's clash with Reading at Turf Moor.
It is unrealistic to think that the FA would dock points for such an offence, a very dangerous precedent would be set, but there is no doubt they would be happy to swell their coffers at Burnley's expense.
At least if the guilty party can be identified, the club will be able to show they have been trying to sort things out.
Gifted goals
THE flood of own goals last weekend, with Michael Proctor starring with a brace at Sunderland, stirred a few memories for Clarets fans.
In the space of three amazing weeks in autumn of 1974 they were gifted five goals in four games from the opposition.
Colin Todd was one of two Derby players to put through his own goal in a game the Rams won 3-2, Mike England and John Pratt got own goals for Spurs as Burnley won 3-2 and Man City scored an own goal as Burnley won that game 2-1.
Clarets stage soccer schools
THE Clarets will be holding their latest series of Soccer Schools this month, offering kids the chance to get some top class coaching.
The soccer schools run throughout the year with plenty of opportunities to join the fun at Easter, Spring Bank Holiday and the summer.
