AFTER the excitement has died down about the 'Blackburn v Darwen' sign on the M65, could our councillors put their weight behind a really important matter -- namely, the siting of the new Darwen health centre?
I haven't heard anyone say that the proposed idea is viable, either for the sick and elderly or the young people who use the all-weather football pitch, which will be lost to provide the centre's site.
Union Street would become derelict, ripe for a developer to build something that nobody really wants.
We have enough empty shops now and houses are being built all over the town.
Use the old clinic and the existing health centre. Adapt them instead of knocking them down, please.
E BURY (Mrs), Cross Barn Grove, Darwen.
