A COMMUNITY worker has launched a clean-up operation in Pendle after she visited a local primary school and found pupils freely admitted to dropping litter every day on their way to school.
Nasreen Khanam, Pendle's Neighbourhood Pride Co-ordinator, has set up the clean-up campaign to educate people about litter. She said: "I was appalled to find children had so much disregard for their own streets. It's not their fault but it is up to me to educate them and show them the right way."
Nasreen wil; visit some of Pendle's most deprived wards and when she finds litter on the streets a letter is sent to each household explaining residents' duties. A clean-up operation was held near Primet Hill in Colne and a second is being organised for Saturday in the Southfield area. Nasreen can be contacted on 01282 425011.
