CLARETS boss Stan Ternent has insisted Arthur Gnohere still has a big future at Turf Moor despite being sent home to Paris for a break with his family.
Gnohere had a nightmare against Reading, not the first he has suffered this season, and Ternent was blunt in his assessment of why he felt he needed to go home.
"He needs to regroup because he has got his head up his backside," he said. "I have sent him home to rest for a week, he needs to take his family back to France.
"You sometimes get this with foreign players but he is a young lad who has done extremely well for us. I felt this was a good time for him to go and spend time with his wife and his kiddy.
"That way I hope that he will come back nice and refreshed. I have still got great faith in his ability and he is okay with it.
"He is still a very important part of the squad but I decided that rather than have him sitting at home, he should go across to France. He will be back before the game against Fulham."
Gnohere had started more matches this season than any player other than Dean West.
But Ternent detected signs of tiredness as he struggled against the Royals and he will be back in training with his team mates later this week.
It took him no time to make an impact at Turf Moor and he quickly became a cult hero last season with a series of strong displays, important goals and attacking runs. When he is on his game he is undoubtedly an asset and Ternent hopes that the break will do him good.
But management is all about making choices and the decision to pair Ian Cox with Drissa Diallo for the first time paid immediate dividends as they defended superbly well throughout the match and Cox even went up the other end and got the only goal of the game.
Graham Branch also played an important part in the victory as he returned at left back having served a one game suspension.
The whole side performed far better than the previous week with Nik Michopoulos shining in goal after Marlon Beresford was ruled out when his partner went into labour on the day of the game.
Beresford explained: "It has been quite a weekend, I was in a hotel in Burnley when I got a call at midnight on Friday night from my partner Louise.
"But she did not end up giving birth until Sunday morning. We have had a daughter called Maya and so it has been a great weekend with Burnley winning as well!"
