MORE than 200 people tucked into an Indian banquet at a conference organised by the India League.
The event, called Republic Day of India 2003, was held to promote understanding of an independent India.
Dr Ramash Ramtray, vice-president of the India League, explained the organisation's aims and objectives to guests at Jan's Conference Centre, Blackburn.
An Indian buffet was served and entertainment was by way of a display of Indian classical and folk dance.
Charu Goswami, vice-president of the Blackburn and District branch of the India League, said: "The event was very well attended and a huge success.
"We aim to promote a better understanding and tolerance between people of all nations and this event was our joy and pride."
