VISITORS to Bury's newly opened energy show house are sure to be enlightened!
They will each receive a free, low-energy light bulb as they tour the innovative council-run premises at 20 Parsonage Street.
The house is full of ideas on how residents can make their home warmer while also saving money and energy.
Councillor Stella Smith, executive member for the environment, said the show house was open to everyone in the borough.
"The ideas and innovations which have been brought together can be applied to any home," she said.
"Visitors can get advice on grants, schemes and special offers to help finance energy efficiency measures in the home. There is also free access to the Internet which can help find ways to reduce energy costs.
"You can also look at the latest technology in energy efficiency, or find out what impact climate change could have on our planet and how we can do our bit to help the environment."
Energy-efficient bulbs last up to 15 times longer and are 80 per cent more efficient than conventional bulbs. Visitors who fill in an energy survey can win an energy-efficient kettle in a monthly draw.
The show house is open on Tuesday from 4pm-7pm; Wednesday, 1.30pm-4.30pm; and Friday, 9.30am-12.30pm. The energy advice team is on 253 6366.
