POLICE in Burnley have launched an appeal for witnesses after a woman, aged 83, was the victim of a bag snatch.
She was walking along Haydock Street when she was grabbed from behind by a man.
While pulling at the bag, the offender knocked her to the ground, then fled with the bag towards Salus Street and Eastern Avenue.
Although uninjured, police said the victim was very shaken by the incident. Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the attack and are particularly keen to speak to a man who chased the offender but never returned to the scene.
They would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the offender with the black shoulder bag, which contained a beige purse, ID card and cash, or anyone who may have found the discarded bag, or contents.
