AN outline planning application has been received by the council for the new Darwen Health Centre.
Plans for the £11 million centre, to be built behind Darwen Leisure Centre, have caused a stir because of the proposed location. Now council chiefs are considering the site.
Adam Scott, Blackburn with Darwen Council director of regeneration, housing and neighbourhoods, said: "An outline planning application has been submitted by Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Primary Care Trust for land near the leisure centre.
"The application is an outline and therefore does not contain any building detail.
"There will now be a 21-day consultation period and it will be discussed at a future planning and highways committee where a decision whether to grant the application will be made by the committee members."
The council agreed to let the current football pitch be used for the development. It is not yet known where another pitch will be built.
