MOTORISTS using the M66 motorway are being warned of roadworks being carried out as part of a major £10million contract.
The route will be closed between junction two at Heap Bridge and junction four at Simister, southbound between 10.30pm and 7am every night until Friday.
The northbound carriageway will also be closed overnight between 10.30pm and 5.30am tonight, tomorrow and Friday.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place to aid drivers during these times.
The project, being run by the Highways Agency, who are working on resurfacing, improving lighting, safety fences and drainage.
Highways Agency project manager Graeme Freeman said: "The work on the M66 is being carried out overnight to minimise disruption to motorists.
"But there could be delays and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey."
