SIMON Leigh (LET, February 4) likened Rovers to a pub side. Their performances before Saturday's win over Southampton would have a teetotaller reaching for the bottle.
So what's gone wrong? Well, like a smooth running car, a soccer team needs a good engine and I believe that ours requires servicing.
Quick movement and biting tackles are required in midfield -- these have been lacking in recent games. Tugay, talented player on the ball, needs a rest.
I suggest Thompson, in midfield, could do for Rovers what Scholes does for Manchester United. Then, perhaps the ball would be released quicker to our talented front men. Our other problem is the centre of defence.
Unfortunately, Nils Johannson isn't going to hack it in the Premiership due to his lack of dominance in the air, while the least said about Todd, the better. Taylor/Short/Berg will hopefully see us to the end of the season.
On the positive side, we play excellent football, and we have unearthed another diamond in Jay McEveley.
Our club has a great manager, is financially sound and the Academy teams top their respective leagues.
