FORMER Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley player David Hargreaves is awaiting sentence after the theft of about £17,000.
Hargreaves, boss of a business collecting cash for landlords, admitted theft of £11,000 in housing benefit at Burnley Crown Court.
He had earlier been convicted of three counts of theft of rent to the tune of about £6,000 by a jury after a trial.
Hargreaves, 48, of Barnes Street, Clayton-le-Moors, was remanded on bail for completion of a pre-sentence report.
He will be sentenced on a date to be fixed by Recorder Anthony Sander who heard the trial.
