A MAJOR project to preserve some of Lancashire's most historic 'criminal records' has received a £32,950 boost from the lottery.
The Lancashire Record Office has made a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid for cash to complete conservation work on the Lancashire Quarter Sessions Records.
The collection includes thousands of records dating back to 1583, including many relating to witchcraft.
County Archivist Bruce Jackson said: "Local historians and researchers value our archives highly and find them a rich source of information about the county's past.
"This latest grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund means we can safeguard another priceless batch for future generations."
