NELSON Brass Band have added another trophy to their cabinet after scooping first place in the fourth section of the annual Brass at the Guild contest in Preston.
They played a piece entitled Lydian Pictures which was written by student Simon Dobson, who won a competition to write the piece.
Two of the band's cornet players, Roman Galaska and Laura Kendall, jointly took the prize for best soloist.
This latest win adds to what is becoming an impressive list of contest victories in recent years and is the second win in three months, following a first place at the Northern Open at St Helens in November.
The band's next contest will be the regional finals at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on March 9.
