A WOMAN eating supper in her Accrington town centre flat was disturbed by two men attacking the steel shutters on the Originals Clothes Store with sledge hammers.
Blackburn magistrates heard that two other men came from the rear of the store and, with the shop alarm sounding, fled empty handed in a transit van that had been stolen in Cheadle Hulme.
Gary Moss, 42, of Kenny Hall Road, Wythenshawe, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary at Originals and he was committed in custody for sentence at Preston Crown Court.
Peter Wild, prosecuting, said that since the incident in October 2001 at least two of the other raiders had been dealt with at the Crown Court and had received nine month prison sentences.
Michelle Denney, defending, said her client was aware of the sentences imposed on his co-accused and was realistic enough not to apply for bail.
