WORK on a £3,000 youth shelter will begin in Belmont this month in a bid to stop youths wandering the streets.
North Turton Parish councillor Ian Bevan said: "Together with the Belmont Youth Club we have decided to put up a brick structure which will be sturdy and attractive. The club has put in £800 and we agreed to do the rest.
"It's important that kids in the area have somewhere to go. We wanted to start in good weather and that's why it couldn't be built in December or January."
The original shelter on Belmont recreation ground was demolished three years ago and campaigners have called for a replacement since that time.
