RAM raiders stole a haul of cash after reversing a stolen car through a wall at Radcliffe Post Office.
Two robbers wearing balaclava masks then climbed through the hole in the wall and threatened a post office cashier who had run into an office inside the premises as the Ford Ranger was driven through the wall.
The thieves searched the post office in West Street before escaping with a large quantity of cash.
They fled in a Ford Cougar which was later found abandoned in Belmont Road, Radcliffe. The robbers struck at about 5.35pm yesterday.
Police say the cashier was not injured but was left very shaken by the incident.
One of the robbers was 6ft tall. Both men were wearing black clothing.
The wall of the post office was extensively damaged and building inspectors were due to visit the scene today to carry out an examination.
