POLICE in an East Lancashire borough are hoping to recruit more community minded residents to gather and distribute crime information.
An e-mail crimebusting scheme was relaunched by Accrington police last month and a further ten people have been enlisted as a result.
But PS Claire Holbrook says funding is still available for more people to join the scheme.
The community e-mail system operates throughout Eastern Division, which covers Hyndburn, Blackburn with Darwen and Ribble Valley.
Bulletins containing local crime information and crime prevention advice are e-mailed on a regular basis to neighbourhood watch co-ordinators and other community representatives.
Residents can have the bulletin sent to their own computer or request an e-mail telephone. Funding has been made available through Hyndburn Council and other partners to pay for the equipment.
PS Holbrook said: "There have been some great responses back, including information regarding anti-social behaviour in some areas. We have ordered 40 of the e-mail telephones for the whole division so I need to be putting bids in now and if people want to become involved they need to let us know."
