A COMMUNITY association has received a £600 grant to revamp a memorial garden.
Eccleshill Gardens Community Association, Darwen, was awarded the funds for an environmental project to clear some overgrown wasteland, weed paths and replant shrubbery.
The grant was awarded by the East Rural Regeneration Board.
Gill Shaw, association secretary, said: "We also want to renovate the memorial garden, paint a bench and lay some flags. We are looking to brighten the area up. We've been fortunate in obtaining a new notice board from the regeneration department of the council which will be used to advertise local events.
"We are hoping to attract more funding in the future to provide some benches near the bus stop."
The association's AGM will be held in April at a venue to be confirmed.
