rTEENAGERS volunteered to be Police cadets as part of a MAD (Make a Difference) scheme.
A group of 15-18 year-olds have been making the elderly more aware of bogus callers and burglaries within their own homes.
They produced a calendar highlighting the risks of answering the door to salesmen or visitors without checking who they are or keeping a chain on the door.
Accompanied by a crime reduction advisor, watch scheme administrators and Police community beat officers, the group distributed calendars at: Golborne Post Office, Heath Street; Leigh Post Office, Silk Street; Atherton Post Office, Market Street; Hindley Post Office, Worthington Street and Tyldesley's Johnson Street Post Office in Johnson Street. On Saturday they are at Asda in Leigh and Golborne, Hindley Kwik Save, Tesco at Atherton and at Tyldesley's Somerfield store.
