MATT Jansen has joined Coventry City on loan until the end of the season.

The 25 year-old was delighted with the arrangement, saying: "I was obviously pleased to hear that several clubs had shown interest.

"When I heard that Gary McAllister and Coventry wished to pursue a loan arrangement, I was happy to listen to their proposals.

"I am very much looking forward to getting involved."

Jansen has made only limited first team appearances this season after battling his way back to fitness from serious injuries incurred in a holiday motoring accident last summer.

Rovers' chief executive John Williams said: "This is a mutually beneficial deal. Whilst it should be very good for Coventry, our number one priority is restoring Matt to full fitness ahead of next season.

"His chances of first team football at Ewood Park are currently restricted, but it is absolutely vital that Matt Jansen gets to play football."

Coventry boss Gary McAllister said: "He is a quality player who was close to going to the World Cup in the summer.

"We need Matt to come here and hit it off straight away because we need the points, and can't afford time for him to bed in.

"So we are looking for him to get some goals early on.

"We are lucky to get him because Craig Hignett gave us some really good references."
