DARWEN power-pop outfit Rhythmic Intent will make their return tomorrow night, at the most unlikely of events.
At Blackburn's Never Neverland's Gnarl Fest 8, the six-piece will throw their lot in with nu-metal rock bands and DJs alike.
Undaunted by the prospect of being 'the different' act on the night, the group -- featuring brothers Anthony and Robert Upton, Christopher Ragnow, Kieron Brooks, John Moorhouse and Amy Hassler -- can't wait to get back on stage again.
Having worked their way around the local circuit over the last 18 months, things started moving in the right direction when they won a battle of the bands in their home town.
With an bright pop style, that draws comparisons to The Levellers and James, their energetic act soon had people sitting up and taking notice.
But despite building a strong following and an appearance at the Darwen Gala, it was internal problems that finally halted their progress.
Being forced to split the original line-up just before Christmas , instead of making the next step, they found themselves putting things on hold and taking stock.
But having taken that time out and now re-shaped, it seems the enforced break has re-ignited their enthusiasm.
Looking ahead Robert said: "We've got some new members and new material now and, at last, things are shaping up for what should be a really good year for us. We're getting the gigs booked again and with a bit of luck we'll be back in the studio by the summer recording some new demos."
Alongside the real hardcore metal music of Deadset, the bands will share the stage with the ever present DJ Chris, who will be bringing his extensive collection of the very latest sounds to proceedings.
Admission for Gnarl Fest 8 is £3 before 11pm and £4 after.
