WE, at the 'Only Foals and Horses' Sanctuary would like to pay tribute to two of our exceptional fundraising volunteers -- Pearl and Irene.
The retirement of Pearl, just a few weeks ago through illness at the age of 80, from helping us out was followed by the sudden death of her daughter, Irene, on February 2, when she had been working for us on our market staff just the day before.
Between them, over the past six years they raised thousands and thousands of pounds for the sanctuary. They ran the three-day market stall on Blackburn Market, staffed the charity shop in Lord Street West on occasions and ran the tombola, lucky dip, and home-made cake stalls at almost every event at the sanctuary.
They also attended outside events having stalls at the Petticoat Lane Market, Lions' events and many others.
They have our everlasting thanks.
