THE future of the public toilets in Letcliffe Park, Barnoldswick, will be discussed at Pendle's executive meeting on Thursday.
At meetings of the executive in October and November it was decided that the public conveniences would be closed subject to a review into potential use and consultation with West Craven Committee and Barnoldswick Town Council.
The views of the West Craven Committee, at their meeting on February 4, were that the executive be advised they were strongly opposed to the closure because the use of the park was likely to increase with the start of the Steam 'n' Stream Heritage Trail, which will start and finish there and the promotion of tourism.
Members also said the toilets were in good condition and well maintained and, because of the park's quite isolated location, there were no alternative toilets for park users.
