POLICE have seized 120 cannabis plants in a drugs raid on a house in Accrington.
Around six officers swooped on the house, in Dunnyshop Avenue, Fern Gore, at 8.15pm on Thursday.
Neighbours watched as the officers, backed up by a support unit vehicle and dog handler, entered the house.
Inside they found the plants growing in rotation under an ultra violet light and fanning system in an upstairs bedroom and the attic.
The plants were in various stages of growth, and officers also found various items of equipment used to cultivate the class B drug.
Some dried leaf material, believed to be cannabis bush, was also seized in the raid.
A 30-year-old man was arrested and released on police bail pending forensic confirmation of the findings.
Sergeant Damian Kitchen, who led the raid, said: "The growing of cannabis will not be tolerated in Accrington.
"My team will be keen to execute similar warrants around Accrington to recover illegal drugs. This operation will not be the last to target such offenders."
Sgt Claire Holbrook, co-ordinator for Accrington Police, said: "It's unusual to find such an organised set-up in domestic premises.
"It's another good result in relation to our war against drug dealers in Accrington.
"We will be most keen to hear from anybody who has infomation regarding the illegal growth or sale of drugs. It is only by working together, with their help, that we can rid Hyndburn of illegal drugs."
