RESIDENTS in Bacup will be offered the chance to find out more about the work of local police officers and in particular what is being done to tackle key issues of concern like crime and anti-social behaviour.
Bacup police are introducing new, quarterly community meetings in order to report back to local residents and seek their views on the activity of local officers and their partnership agencies.
Crime, anti-social behaviour and the use of CCTV will be the main subject of
the first meeting which will be held on Thursday at 7pm, at the
Leisure Hall in Burnley Road, Bacup.
Presentations will be made by local Inspector Dave Shepherd, Pennine Division operations manager Superintendent Steve Hartley, as well as CCTV control room manager, Peter Stobbs.
Supt Hartley said: "We are introducing the new community meetings right across Pennine Division in order to improve communication with local residents and give them a better insight into our work.
"We are particularly keen to show our communities how important their input is, not only by illustrating what we can do as a result of information received from the public but also by impressing upon them simple actions they can take to help us cut crime."
