I AM so outraged by the carving up and, re-naming of areas of the town where I was born and have lived for the last 56 years.
The final straw was when I read (LET, February 3) that industrial units may be built on land off Harrison Street, at Wensley Fold, Blackburn.
I spent all my childhood and most of my young adult life in Wensley Fold. Harrison Street those days was approximately a quarter of a mile away and, unless its been moved, it still is.
This is by no means the only instance of our heritage (yes, we have heritage even in Blackburn) being tampered with. For example: Johnstone Street is not in Bank Top. St Wilfrid's School is not in Mill Hill.
Who are these people who probably have no family history in Blackburn, who are so arrogant that they can change the history of a once-proud town with the stroke of pencil on a map?
JOHN SMITH, Abraham Street, Blackburn.
