PALS of a teenager who died following a collision on a busy road have paid a moving tribute to their friend and said: "You were a good mate, rest in peace."
The friends made the emotional gesture in letters and cards left alongside bouquets of flowers near the spot on Brunshaw Road, Burnley, where 13-year-old John Paul Henry Fallon was hit by a passing car on Friday evening.
Among the messages left at the spot were a note from a girl who wrote "Good night and God bless."
On one A4 sheet of paper a pal of John's from Towneley High School has written a moving letter to John's parents which reads: "At school John never talked about girls. He used to talk about his mum. He was a really good friend and I am really sorry. I cannot imagine how you must feel.
"I will pray for him. Once again I am so so sorry."
Police said it appeared John had run out into the road from a grass embankment and had been following two friends when the accident happened at about 6.30pm.
