THERE is no more astute critic of war than the veteran journalist John Pilger, who has seen conflicts all over the world. So when I read what he had written about Iraq I was very disturbed.

He vividly described what bombs and missiles can do to people and now I feel ashamed to have voted into power a government that seems intent on joining America in its ruthless quest for oil at any cost.

It will mean grief and death and inevitable reprisals. We should stop this madness now.
