I AM glad to see that, according to the Bury Times (Jan 31), we don't have a homelessness problem in Bury anymore. How else would Bury Council be able to find accommodation for 628 asylum-seekers (soon to rise to 914). Surely the council wouldn't put asylum-seekers before our own homeless people.
I would also like to know if the asylum-seekers are fully government funded, including the cost of the accommodation, heating, lighting, NHS etc., or whether it is coming out of our council tax.
If I get the chance I will do what many people did in Burnley and will vote BNP.
I know the liberals out there will be shouting about how selfish I am, but I am sorry; I am fed-up of my taxes being used for every Tom, Dick or Harry instead of being used to sort out our schools, our NHS, our roads, and our transport services. Need I go on with my selfish rhetoric?
S. AUSTIN (Mrs), Bury.
