A GANG of armed robbers stole what is believed to be millions of pounds from a Royal Mail depot in Fulwood, Preston.
The men, dressed in balaclavas, used a stolen Vauxhall Cavalier from Manchester to ram their way into the sorting office, Pittman Way, at about 8pm, on Friday, February 17.
They escaped in a second car, a metallic blue Ford Escort, which they ditched half a mile away and burnt out, before changing cars again and heading toward the M6 motorway at junction 31a.
Staff were working at the depot at the time but took cover in a secured area and nobody was injured.
Detective Inspector Tony Bolton of Preston police said: "We are keen for anyone that may have seen any suspicious activity to come forward. It does appear to be a very well planned and organised job.
"There was some meticulous planning involved to pull it off, and it may have been that the people who committed the robbery have visited the Preston area before."
People with information can call Preston police on 01772 203203.
