I read with great interest the comments from the Roe Lee Residents' Association in Blackburn (Letters, January 30). Being a lifelong resident of the district, I fully endorse their remarks.
I know only too well how this once much-sought-after area has deteriorated during the last 10 years.
It is a fact that the Association has voluntarily put much time and effort into their endeavours to improve things for the residents, but, unfortunately, their aims and objectives cannot be fully achieved without the help and necessary investment from the council.
Roe Lee has become a forgotten and neglected area. Unlike some other districts in the town, our young people have no all-weather surface pitch and a neighbourhood centre is desperately needed for use of young and old alike.
There are purpose-built centres in Audley, Bank Top, Ewood, Little Harwood and Shadsworth, so why not Roe Lee?
Is it too much to hope that in the hear future the Roe Lee Residents' Association will get the support it undoubtedly deserves?
KATHLEEN HOLT (Miss), Whalley New Road, Blackburn.
