FOUR old school buddies who formed a rock band returned to the assembly hall to launch their debut single.
But the band members of Jobe, who entertained sixth form pupils at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School during lunch, were worried they were going to get told off for being too loud!
The band members, all from Clitheroe, met each other as 11-year-olds 14 years ago.
Lead singer Dan Theobalds, guitarist Rob Williams and brothers Andy and Chris Hudson, who play bass and drums, are now preparing themselves for life in a rock 'n' roll band.
They used to play music together and share tapes of their favourite bands as GCSE pupils. And, after completing A-levels the four left Clitheroe Grammar to go to separate universities. But on completing their degrees they decided they wanted to get together and form a band rather than work nine to five.
They have been taken under the wing of Steve Lowes, who manages ex-Stone Rose Ian Brown, and their first single, the Love Buzz EP, was produced by legendary New Order bassist Peter Hook.
Of his latest gig at his old school, guitarist Rob, 25, who now lives with the rest of the band in a house in Manchester, said: "It was a bit weird. We thought we might get into trouble if we were a bit loud. We saw a few of the old teachers who had forgiven us for our time there! But it was great to go back and say 'hello and this is what we are doing'.
"The pupils were all polite and listened to us and seemed to enjoy it. The teachers came and showed an interest. Our old music teacher turned up but missed us. Whether that was deliberate I don't know."
Head of sixth form Nigel Spooner, who helped organise the gig, said: "It is a great credit to Rob, Andy, Chris and Daniel that they have reached this stage in such a competitive area as the music industry. They are talented performers."
