BUS operator Burnley and Pendle Travel has announced an extension to the 143 Service between Burnley, Clowbridge, Crawshawbooth and Rawtenstall. The route will be extended to Bolton from Monday, replacing most of the daytime journeys which are currently provided by Rossendale Transport.
The Burnley to Bolton service will be re-numbered service 273.
B and P commercial director Duncan Allan said: the reason for the new development was to provide better service for passengers.
He said: "We saw that Rossendale Transport had de-registered several journeys on their service 273 and decided that we could not only run these journeys ourselves but also provide an even better service by linking these journeys to our existing service 143.
"Most passengers will no longer have to change buses in Rawtenstall to travel between Burnley and Bolton and we are confident that more people will benefit from the revised service." Journey times between Burnley and Rawtenstall will be slightly amended and a new timetable leaflet is currently being produced and will be available shortly from Burnley and Bolton Bus Stations and from LCC County Information Centres.
