ONLY 88 people responded to a consultation run by Pendle Council on council tax.

Responses, via a newspaper advertisement and the council's website, showed 47.7 per cent wanted no increase

Nineteen people wanted a 6.6 per cent increase and 14 favoured a 9.5 per cent rise.

Some of the comments received included more money to be spent on repairing roads, improving Earby Town Centre and reducing crime in the area.

Stephen Barnes, chief executive of Pendle Council, said: "We are pleased that people took the time to make their views known.

"These results and comments will be considered by all three political groups before a final decision on the budget and the consequent council tax level is made on Thursday, February 27."
