A LEIGH church is opening its doors for a quiet vigil for peace with Iraq on Ash Wednesday.
An open invitation is offered to anyone wishing to reflect on the situation at Leigh Parish Church on March 5 from noon to 2pm and 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
The Rev Canon Alan R Gawith said: 'War with Iraq is a very real possibility. No-one wants war but they do want the end of any weapons of mass destruction and the means to manufacture such weapons that Iraq possesses.
"The church will be open for a 'Quiet Vigil for Peace, Justice and Understanding'. Peace is more than a lack of conflict, justice more than punishment and wellbeing more than only our wellbeing."
