RESIDENTS on an Atherton housing estate have come up with their own blueprint for the future.
Hag Fold's community has drawn up a pioneering: "Community Charter" - an agreement between residents and organisations providing public services which will ensure that all parties work together to make the area safer and more attractive.
The agreement will become a model for the rest of Wigan borough. The Charter will provide information to the estate's 5,000 residents about services, contact numbers and guidance on what to do if service is not what they expected.
Council leader Lord Peter Smith said: "This is the first charter of its kind anywhere in our borough, so congratulations to the people of Hag Fold who have shown us the way forward."
Elaine Wystawnoha, the estate's neighbourhood co-ordinator, said: "It represents a true partnership between local people all councillors and service providers."
