RESIDENTS have been given the chance to speak out about the state of local dentistry on the NHS thanks to a new review.
Councillors have brought this forward to examine the dental needs of children, young people, and residents aged over 65, in the Atherton, Hindsford and Tyldesley areas.
Questions that residents have the chance to comment on are waiting times, difficulties in finding an NHS dentist, transport, cost and suggestions for improvements.
Cllr John O'Brian, chairman of the health select committee that is conducting the review, said the important part is to understand local peoples' experiences of dental services.
He added: "This role represents a new and challenging agenda for local councils.
"Poor dental care affects many aspects of people's health so we have made this our first topic scrutiny."
The report, and any recommendations for improvements, will be available to the public after the end of March.
