THERE are more than 130,000 residents living in almost 56,000 households in the Lancaster district - and Buddhism is the third largest religion.
Those are some of the facts revealed about the city council area in the 2001 census.
Also among the striking findings of this biggest ever survey are the fact that Lancaster has 9,361 'economically inactive' students and a further 3,899 who are deemed 'economically active'.
And those despairing about that state of the area's roads can look forward with some optimism in the knowledge that there are more households with no car (15710) than with two cars (14248), though most (46 per cent) have one car or van.
