In reply to Mr O'Shaughnessy's suggestion for a 'park and ride' system Citizen letters last week).
Using land outside Lancaster for parking and then boarding a bus sounds very much like he is trying to increase passengers numbers on the local bus service. Is he employed by the bus company?
Is the £1 charge he suggests for the use of parking and transport to the main station no matter how many people are in your vehicle?
And would this be £1 for the whole day and lead to paying high bus fares for all people in your vehicle?
As a motorist with four young children I would rather pay the £4 charge per day, than pay high bus fares and have a jerky and crowded journey on a park and ride bus.
It may cost more for the by-pass but give me a by-pass any day rather than line the pockets of Stagecoach and Ribble.
Motorist, Heysham
