STRESS in the workplace came under the microscope at the first 2003 seminar hosted by the PACE Network of Bury College's Business Solutions.

The session was led by consultant Ros Edin from Stress Watch. The meeting heard that absence from work caused by stress-related conditions had risen dramatically in recent years.

The seminar aimed to help employers recognise the symptoms and to highlight useful strategies to combat workplace stress with some excellent tips on how to manage an individual's personal stress levels.

All the seminars, which cover a range of people management and IT issues relevant to companies of all sizes, are free to all PACE Network members. However, non-members are welcome at a cost of £25 plus VAT. But places are limited and need to be reserved early to avoid disappointment.

Membership of PACE Network provides those with some or all responsibility for people management with a programme of seminars, a networking and discussion arena, regular newsletter and access to a human resources hub, accessed via the Internet which will contain a wide range of essential information, articles and links.

One-to-one advice and guidance is also available on people management and information technology issues for small to medium-sized companies based in eligible areas of the borough.

PACE Network is a ground-breaking project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is the first of its kind in the UK.

For full details of the seminar programme for 2003, and the benefits of joining the PACE Network, please contact Amanda Ramsbottom or Pauline Parrett at Business Solutions on 0161 797 4325.
